• 2373: Got into a fight with a fellow marine cadet over proper way of handling a situation but things were made worse when the other cadet made a racial slur. Cadet Chani laid out the offending cadet and a drill instructor in Drill SGT Anthony Zim. Though this incident caused a mark to be put in her record, Drill SGT Zim had her singled out for Special Forces training.
• 2374: Refused to wake up for a morning field excersise following a "Bender" the night before. Spent two days in the brig for attacking Drill SGT Zim and laying him out again.
• 2377: Knocked Private Kipper Tor out during a fight with him after Tor attempted to force himself on Private Slayton during downtime. Though It wasn't revealed until later why she attacked Private Tor, she spent a week in the brig until Tor regained concusness.
• 2379: Was found having a "Late Night Meeting" with PVT. Charlie Soda, also of the Beowulf's marine detachment.

Background:
The young woman known as Chani Slayton was born aboard the Ambassador-class starship, USS Missouri during the Cardassian Occupation of Bajor. Chani would never know who her parents were as they were refugees that the Missouri (under the command of her now adopted father in Commodore Andrew Slayton) had rescued from a Cardassian warship. Slayton's wife suggested that they adopt the newborn and that's what happened.

Chani had a strict if somewhat normal childhood under the care of her adopted parents, the one problem that she defintally had was the fact that she was allowed to get away with several things due to the fact that her oldest adopted brother in Marcus would often cover for her and due to this, she grew up closer to him than any of member of the family-save for Marcus' wife Brianna.

When she was old enough and graduated from the local school system, Chani surprised everyone when she followed her older brother Chris into the Starfleet Marine Corps after having a long conversation with General J.G. Shepherd of the SFMC. While at the SFMC Academy, she proved to be a natural in her chosen field and was singled out for Special Forces training which she also excelled at, graduating at the top of her class in 2376.

Chani would then go onto being a marine aboard the USS Beowulf (the first ship to bear that name) and she found a kindered soul in the form of one Private Charlean "Charlie" Soda and the two entered into a relationship together but this wouldn't last as she would be transferred off of the Beowulf with a number of other marines to help form the spearhead of the forces against the Reman Ascendancy and later, the Xanthe Relief Force.

Chani would spend the next three years of her life on Xanthe, serving as her detachments primary sniper as well as a member of the Military Police but when she wasn't on duty, she was learning what she could about her temporary home. She only left Xanthe once and that was to attend Marcus' wedding to Brianna in mid-2382. After her tour on Xanthe was over, Chani found herself transferred back to the USS Beowulf, which was now a Kennedy-class Starcarrier following the destruction of the Jupiter-class version by a rogue breen colonel.

Chani would remain aboard the Beowulf, moving from on hot spot to another until finally she found herself becoming more at ease with who she was but not with what she was as she had no connection to her own race. In early 2385, Chani was placed on temporary detachment duty on the so called "Starbase Medical" to under go therapy.

Personality Profile:
Chani is considered by many of her collegues to be "a real hellion" or a "living embodyment of a solar flare" as she is positive and full of energy-unless you piss her off at which point she becomes a fighting machine capable of doing whatever it takes to get the job done.

She has a love for children and small animals like cats and rabbits and has an intense dislike for spiders due to a cruel joke played on her by a bully when she was still a little girl. She is also considered to be "bi-sexual", though this is a closely guarded secret and the only two people in her family that knows this is her brother Marcus and his wife Brianna.

Special Notes:
Chani is one of the youngest enlisted ever to make the rank of 2nd LT at the young age of 26.

Chani also has no connection to her roots as a bajoran and has chosen never to find out what those roots are, however a recent string of fights aboard the Beowulf have made her family question that choice, especailly her brother Chris.
