Background:
Holly Eloise Grissom was born in a sub sea dome in the Pacific Ocean on Earth in 2349, the dome was set up in the early twenty first century and was one of the first permanent undersea habitats built. Holly is an only child, but does have a large extended family, uncles, aunts, cousins, and so on that are spread out within the Federated States of Micronesia and on Selene and Mars.
After graduating from college, Holly applied to Starfleet and spent several happy years studying at the Academy and at Starfleet Medical. Her original interest was strangely in Security and Tactical duties, however this soon changed once she had been introduced to Midwifery. Her introduction to Security though did instil in her a curiosity for martial arts.During the war, Holly was fairly front line for most of it, Triangle posting during the Klingon conflict, and the Persephone for the remainder, it has left her with some painful memories of the war which still linger.
Holly has had several assignments in the vicinity of the Triangle, that area of space between the Federation, the Klingon Empire and the Romulan Empire. During both assignments she spent a lot of time in the Triangle itself and has met a lot of people who live there. She has a fondness for the area and would like to explore it further if the opportunity should present itself.
She was on leave during the Dominion war and was visiting her family on Earth when she met a Starfleet Captain, Scott Donovan. Captain Donovan was diving of the coast of several Micronesian islands while on holiday and she took a liking to the Captain, his quirky sense of humour, his infectious smile, and after a couple of weeks he asked her to accept an assignment to his ship, the Persephone, which, after a little thought she accepted. The two were married the next year onboard the Persephone.
Holly is younger than Scott, but is extremely happy, and wants to have children with him of her own, she does love Krystal, Cassie and the boys, even though Cassie is only a few years younger than her (chronologically) and one of the boys is actually older than her. Ever since the war, she and Scott were looking forward to spending some time together, the assignment to the Academy, and subsequently to the New London Starbase have provided such an opportunity.
She has been tempted more than once to carry on her education to become a Doctor, but has decided against that recently and instead has started studying Grief/Trauma counselling, in the hope of being able to better help her step daughter, Krystal.
Personality Profile:
Holly is cheerful, exuberant and definitely can be describes as a people person, she enjoys making new friends and talking to people, and loves her job immensely. As far as she’s concerned, assisting new life into the universe, and caring for it in its first moments is the best job in the galaxy.
Holly is typically found when off duty either with her family, of organising/running a parent/child group, something she hopes to one day participate in with her own children.
Holly does have a little trouble interacting with Klingons, there was an incident during the conflict with the Klingons when they boarded the Starbase she was stationed on, Holly was in sickbay and fought to defend the newborn nursery and its single occupant. She succeeded, but after was sickened by the carnage they had wrought in the main sickbay, patients and medics alike had been butchered, something she hasn’t forgotten,
Special Notes:
Holly has a variety of hobbies, but the one that confuses most is her fascination with learning various martial arts, she is proficient in two, Jeet Kun Do & Krav Mahga, and is well along learning Lee Kwan Choo, she also has taken lessons in several others, one Vulcan, one Klingon and another Terran.
She also collects hand to hand weapons, an likes to figure out the basics of their use.
