Background:
Darryl K’li Kimbrough was born in France, on earth in 2342. Her parents were a human doctor of medicine and a Romulan professor of galactic literature who had met while attending a peace conference on Vulcan.
She has one older brother, Josef A’len Kimbrough who joined Starfleet and is currently serving as a Lieutenant on board the USS Sacred Heart in Engineering.
Her childhood growing up in the north of France was pretty normal and uneventful. She decided to follow in her father’s footsteps and become a doctor so attended the University of Madrid where she befriended Kathleen O’Reilley who was a law student. They have been close friends ever since.
Soon after beginning school, however, she decided that medicine was not for her and developed an interest in the mind instead. She then studied for her degree in Psychology. After graduating, she went on to study at the Institute for Advanced Psychology on Pluto where she hoped to go on and open up a private practice of her own. However in her residency in the school’s psych wards, she came to the conclusion that she couldn’t stand to be around crazy people.
So her career took another turn into teaching, which she found she was very good at. She went on to teach clinical psychology at various institutions until eventually ending up at New London as Dean of the Research and Teaching Facility, which came with a honorary promotion to lieutenant commander, as it was a starfleet installation.
Personality Profile:
Darryl has always been somewhat of a loner. Perhaps it’s part of her Romulan heritage, she’s not sure. She grew up with a minimum of Romulan influence, most of her time spent on Earth. She had few friends and only one younger brother with whom she never really got along. Darryl spent most of her spare time, when not studying, buried in fiction books. Books and writing are her passion. She writes books about places she’d love to go, about fairy kingdoms and knights and dragons and the age of chivalry when romance was alive and dreams came true. This is the world to which she escapes and her writing helps her to go there.
As for personal relationships, Darryl has been married once. But it didn’t last for long; only three months. She has a problem dealing with people being dependent on her and is afraid to get close to anyone for fear of hurting them. She’s even afraid of having pets for fear of harming them as well.
