Background:
Lu Mei is the youngest of three children born to Dr.s Lu Hwong Mei and Hirohito Takehashi. Her oldest brother disowned his family and went off to wander about the galaxy as an artist. Her next brother became a doctor like his parents. Lu Mei felt extreme pressure to go into medicine as well, however she had no ambition to be a doctor. She settled for nursing much to her brother’s dismay. To this day they have not been able to speak to each other without arguing about it, as Matsumo feels she could have done much more with her life than marry a good for nothing musician and settle for nursing. However her marriage was short lived as he was killed when a druggie opened fire in a concert venue and killed her husband three other musicians. As a result Lu Mei is bitter and for no good reason, blames her brother for it. She has since accepted postings away from earth to get as far away from her past as possible.
Personality Profile:
Lu Mei is a quiet, headstrong, and beneath it all bitter young woman who unreasonably blames her older brother, Matsumo, for all the ills that have befallen her. The untimely demise of her brief husband has left her bitter and hating lots of things that she used to love. Her posting here at New London is as much for her own psychological welfare as it is for her career. Unbeknownst to her, her mother is the one who pulled some favours and got her posted here. Lu Mei likes to read and write poetry, most of which is bitter and sorrowful. She also likes to play video games and can often be found taking her aggressions out on the holodeck. By contrast she also partakes in the ancient art of bonsai, having several bonsai trees in her quarters from back home in Japan.

Having parted on not so good terms with her brother, Matsumo, Lu Mei does not know that he will be here on this base as well.
